Djamila Typefaces

2018 — 2019

Djamila is a Latin and Arabic typeface project of my degree at the Academy of Fine Arts of Perugia, Italy. The project is a challenge to combine two styles of scriptures Arabic and Latin. With the help of my professor Paul Robb we have succeeded in creating a remarkable harmony on the Arabic and Latin characters.

The project was awarded Bronze at the TEDA Cup International Youth Design Competition.

Monk SPF Typefaces

2018 — 2019

Monk Spf is a type family that seeks a balance between the openness and legibility of humanist sans serifs and the striking and more regularized character of the square sans serif. Letterforms have a distinct direction of the ductus, a wide overall stance, large open counters that help in its legibility at small point sizes, with taut and curves. In this project, I was called by the Salt&Pepper studio to design the Arabic version.

The project was awarded Silver at the A’ Design Award & Competition 2020.

Grafiche Sabbioni

2019 — 2020

Grafiche Sabbioni is a printing company based in Città di Castello, Italy.
In this project, we enjoyed carving the letters by hand in an artisanal way as it was traditionally done for the letterpress printing, for the 2020 calendar.
